What year did you start CrossFitting?

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I got into CrossFit from watching my sister do her first competition. I was pretty jealous I wasn’t out there competing with her, because the whole time I kept thinking “I bet I could have done way more reps than that girl.”

Why did you become a trainer?

CrossFit has always been a passion of mine and something that I look forward to doing daily. In the back of my mind, I’ve always wanted to become a trainer, but I already had a career. It took my sister and I buying an established CrossFit Affiliate together to be a little more interested in moving forward with it. I was going to just do all the back end business stuff, but I figured I should at least become Level 1 certified to cover all the necessary areas of owning an affiliate.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I played competitive soccer growing up. It was my main sport, but I also played many other sports as well. I have always had a competitive edge and found that being an athlete is one of my passions. When I found CrossFit I felt like I was in my element again.

Why did you become a trainer?

I became a trainer because I really enjoyed being in the CrossFit environment. It changed my life in so many positive ways and I wanted to be apart of changing other people’s lives.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I originally joined CrossFit Fairbanks to gain strength to complete a Tough Mudder. I was completely hooked after my first on ramp class. Through CrossFit, I have gained confidence to complete physical tasks that I never imagined I could do, much less, do well.

Why did you become a trainer?

Simply put, my love for the sport. Sharing it with people, watching them accomplish things they never imagined. I know, CrossFit will help them become the best versions of themselves. Being a part of that journey is an incredible privilege.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I have been athletic my whole life and heavily involved with competitive team sports throughout high school and then college. After I graduated, I really missed the team atmosphere and HATED ‘going to the gym’. I moved to a different city and was looking for something new to do in order to meet fun people, (and I guess get back into shape) and my brother recommended CrossFit. I tried it once and was hooked! I loved the community aspect and it satisfied my cravings of a ‘team-like-sport’, but with the option of being competitive. I’ve never looked back!

Why did you become a trainer?

Being a Physical Therapist by day, I truly have a passion for helping people overcome obstacles, whether it be an injury or getting that first-ever strict pull-up. There is nothing better than seeing people reach their personal goals, and being able to be part of that is an honor!

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Well, I was going to say Wall Balls and Burpees, but I guess that makes me slightly insane. So I’ll go with Box jumps and Overhead Squats 🙂

What is your favorite cheat food?

I can only choose one?! Then I’ll have to say Salt and Vinegar Kettle Cooked Chips.

Who’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Superman. Being able to fly would be AMAZING!

What year did you start CrossFitting?

I started doing CrossFit in July of 2016. Since then I have gotten to drop-in at around 15 CrossFit gyms throughout the United States and done some CrossFit workouts in some countries in Europe too.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I played a lot of sports when I was a kid and in high school. I enjoyed the challenge of pushing myself and being part of a team. I have also been required to maintain my physical fitness for work. When I started with CrossFit I really enjoyed the community aspect of it. I think that and the challenging workouts made me really interested in following the program.

Why did you become a trainer?

I wanted to become a better athlete and learn more about the “”How and Why” behind the CrossFit program.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Because of the constantly varied nature of CrossFit I am going to give one for each modality:
Body Weight Movements: Without a doubt, BURPEES! Doesn’t matter what kind, I smile every time I see them programmed.
Gymnastics: Muscle-Ups… Ring Muscle-Ups take a considerable amount of work for me to get them, then I stop practicing them and I lose them until I get after working on them again.
Barbell: Snatches… this lift is so technically challenging and humbling. When you hit a PR on this lift it is due in no small part to a LOT of hard work.
Monostructural: Rowing… another CrossFit movement that I find myself constantly trying to improve my form to increase efficiency.
Most Disliked CrossFit Movement? I am glad you asked. Wall Balls. I do try to convince myself I love them. When I see these programmed, I assume it is how everyone else feels when they see burpees in the workout.

What is your favorite cheat food?

Five Guys cheeseburgers. I always eat them too fast and feel awful afterwards, but they are delicious. Normal everyday food I can eat here in Fairbanks would be PB&J.

Who’s your favorite Superhero and why?

My favorite superhero is Thor. He can fly, manipulate weather, and has a hammer with its’s own name that only he can use. That is pretty awesome.

Qualifications:

  • CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
  • CrossFit Gymnastics Course
