April 2018- Teri McCabe

Teri-

Start by telling us a little about yourself..

My name is Teri McCabe. I’m originally from Arizona and I’m Diné.

What was your reason for joining CrossFit Fairbanks?

I’ve always wanted to learn how to weight lift and learn the proper techniques of how to do it. Also I wanted muscles.

What were your thoughts after your first workout? First week?

My exact words were “my god what have I done! I can’t even walk anymore, I must go back for more.”

What makes CrossFit different from other workouts and fitness programs you have tried in the past?

Well like I said I’ve never really weight lifted before so it was something new and different for me to try.

What is your favorite movement/lift? Least favorite?

My favorite movement/lift would be deadlifts and since I’m getting the hang of snatches it’s becoming my favorite as well.
My least favorite movement would be burpees.

What is your proudest CrossFit moment thus far?

When I was able to do a full snatch without losing balance.

What impact has working out had on you in and out of the gym?

I would say my confidence has improved a lot since I’ve first started.

Who is your favorite Superhero and why?

I have multiple favorite superhero’s to pick only one would be hard, but Batman would always be first.

What is your favorite cheat meal?

Pizza!

What advice would you give a prospect coming in?

Learn to love burpees!

–Notes from the Coach–

If I hd to describe Teri in one word it would be ‘Dedicated’! She has been one of the most consistent 5:30am athletes we have had, as she almost never misses a class! Since the first day she started coming to CrossFit Fairbanks, she has been consistent, eager to learn, is always on time and overall just a great person to coach! She continues to push herself within her limits; she is getting confident in her abilities but continues to strive to work on her weaknesses. She is one of the most coach-able athletes I have worked with, as she truly listens to feedback and instantly applies it to improve her skills. Teri is also a great team player and always encourages others around her, even coming in to cheer on her fellow CrossFitters during the Open when she had already completed her WOD at 5:30am!
It has been an honor getting the opportunity to coach her and it is such a pleasure watching her improve and reach her personal goals! Great job, Teri! I am so proud of you! Keep up the great work!!
